Terms of Service
Last updated: October 5, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of chateaukhan.com, www.chateaukhan.com, home.chateaukhan.com, and the other services operated under the chateaukhan.com domain (together, the "Services"). The Services are operated by Jamal Khan ("we", "us"). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. What the Services are
www.chateaukhan.com is a public, informational website
describing this project, its policies, and any open roles. It also
hosts a public request-echo endpoint (/test-api) and
viewer intended for testing HTTP clients and integrations.
home.chateaukhan.com is a private household portal for invited family members. It links to self-hosted household services and provides a Family Calendar that lets members connect their own Google, Microsoft, or Apple calendars and share their availability with one another, at a level of detail each member chooses.
The Services are a personal, non-commercial project. They are not sold, and no payment is required or accepted for their use.
2. Eligibility and accounts
The public pages on www.chateaukhan.com may be viewed by anyone. home.chateaukhan.com and the other private services are available only to people we have invited and issued an account to. Accounts are personal: keep your credentials confidential and do not share them. We may grant, suspend, or revoke access at any time, at our discretion.
3. Connected third-party accounts
If you connect a Google, Microsoft, or Apple calendar to the Family Calendar, you authorize us to access that calendar on your behalf, read-only, solely to display your events and availability to you and to the household members you choose to share with. You can disconnect a calendar at any time from within the application, and you can also revoke access from your Google, Microsoft, or Apple account settings.
Your use of those third-party accounts remains subject to the respective provider's own terms and policies. How we handle the data we receive from them is described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services, other accounts, or the systems and networks behind them.
- Disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Services, including by circumventing rate limits or other protective measures.
- Use the Services to store, send, or share content that is unlawful, infringing, harmful, or that you do not have the right to share.
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or resell the Services, or use them for any commercial purpose.
- Send passwords, access tokens, payment details, or other sensitive personal information to the public test endpoint. Requests sent there are briefly visible to anyone viewing the test viewer.
5. Your content
You keep all rights to the content you provide or connect, such as your calendar data. You give us only the limited permission needed to store, process, and display that content in order to operate the Services for you and the people you choose to share it with.
6. Our content
The text, design, and code of the Services belong to us or our licensors. You may view and use them for your personal use of the Services, but not copy or redistribute them except as allowed by law.
7. Availability and changes
The Services are self-hosted and run on a best-effort basis. They may be unavailable from time to time, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of them at any time, with or without notice.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. In particular, we do not guarantee that calendar information shown in the Services is complete, current, or accurate; always confirm important appointments in the original calendar.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, opportunity, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Services. Because the Services are provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim relating to them is limited to zero dollars (US $0), except where the law does not allow such a limitation.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time, and you may ask us to delete your account and associated data as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Services. Sections 5 through 9 and 11 survive termination.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Contact
