chateaukhan.com
chateaukhan.com is a personal, non-commercial project run by the Khan family. It hosts a private household portal, including a Family Calendar that lets family members see one another's availability in one place.
Purpose of this application
chateaukhan.com Family Calendar is a web application that combines the personal calendars of members of one family into a single shared family calendar, so they can see when everyone is free or busy and plan around each other's schedules.
The application lets each family member:
- Sign in to home.chateaukhan.com with a family account.
- Connect their own Google Calendar (and optionally Microsoft or Apple calendars) with read-only access.
- Choose which family groups can see each calendar, and how much detail they see: free/busy only, event titles, or full event details.
- View one combined calendar showing the schedules others have shared with them.
Why we request Google Calendar access: the application
requests the calendar.readonly scope only to read the
signed-in user's events and free/busy status so they can be displayed
in the family calendar. It never creates, edits, or deletes events,
and Google user data is never sold, used for advertising, or shared
with anyone except the family members the user chooses. Users can
disconnect at any time. See our
Privacy Policy and
Terms of Service.
The application is private and non-commercial. It is used only by invited members of the Khan family and is not offered to the public.
What it does
www.chateaukhan.com
This public website. It explains what the project is and publishes our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. It also hosts a small public HTTP echo endpoint for testing API clients.
home.chateaukhan.com
A private portal for invited family members, behind a login. It links to the household's self-hosted services (media, home automation, network tools) and runs the Family Calendar.
Family Calendar
Family members can connect their own Google, Microsoft, or Apple calendar, then share it with family groups. Each person picks how much others see, from free/busy only up to full event details.
How we use Google Calendar data
When a family member chooses to connect a Google account, the Family
Calendar asks for read-only access to their Google
Calendar (calendar.readonly). Event times, titles, and
availability are used only to show that person's schedule to them and
to the family members they choose to share with, at the level of detail
they choose. The app never creates, edits, or deletes events. We do not
sell this data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone else.
Anyone can disconnect their calendar at any time, which deletes the
stored access tokens.
Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Full details are in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
